It is a shame the company somewhat turned it's back on the consumers/customers that bought their DVRs that helped get the company going, in favor of providing services to the cable companies. When my Bolts finally die, I do not think I'll purchase any more DVRs if TiVo would happen to still be producing them for consumers. As is, the Stream seems limited I've reached a point I can't install more apps, but I've settled with being content with the apps I've installed. Some (SSL? TLS?) security update prevented me from viewing a friend's Plex server, so spending $35 on the Stream wasn't a huge investment. I did end up purchasing a Stream 4K dongle simply for the fact the Plex application is only slightly better than the DVR app. I've never experienced pre-roll ads with the older interface, so I don't regret taking that step. The first thing I did when I received my Bolts was roll back the "TiVo Experience 4/Hydra" UI before anything was ever recorded, and have been using the "classic" interface I've been used to with previous models. I've been a fan for years, but I think the world has passed them by. I'm not excited about the design either.įWIW, I'm fairly certain the Bolt is the last TiVo will own. It was built this way for ventilation because the Bolt tends to run hot.Not sure what you're referring to here, unless it's another skip mode issue?. If not, there is/was a way to downgrade from the TE4 interface back to the TE3 interface, but you'd have to confirm the particulars for your unit. This is definitely annoying at first, but it is something you can and will get used to. There are a lot of reasons this was done, but discussing them just causes arguments about TE3 vs.Why not set your OnePass to record the show only on the show/network you want?.I seem to remember being able to do this, but it's been a while since I upgraded, so I'm not sure anymore.TiVo recently changed their skip mode detection from human to AI, and it sucks. I agree these are annoying, but you can contact TiVo customer service via chat and ask them to turn off the pre-roll ads.I find my Bolt is significantly faster than my old Roamio and don't experience any significant lag.I mean, the TiVo Stream is basically just a Chromecast or Roku right? So they're grasping at straws. I'm thinking TiVo is just trying to stay alive and sacrificing they oldest customers in order to do it. I didn't think it would bother me as much as it does. At least then I can choose the new show easier and not have added steps. Ok, great, give them credit, but this is annoying, why does it always take me to the cast and info of the show instead of another default screen like my recording list. Why in the hell did they remove the function of the back arrow to not be a back button anymore? It just goes to more preview content advertising. For instance, re-runs on another channel other than the original network are recorded. But now I find that if the TiVo sees something on the schedule from another network, they deem it as new. but why, when I log in with my log in on the newer device will it not transfer my One Passes? I had to re-do all of them with all my settings again. Is this an arrangement with the networks like pre-roll ads - more money for them somehow? The auto-skip function sometimes skips to a preview of another show for like two minutes before the actual show. Being a customer for over a dozen years and paying monthly all this time and now I have to freaking watch preloaded ads when I bought the TiVo to skip those ads in the first place? It definitely isn't and I find myself feeling like it's slower than the Roamio responding to remote commands. but I expected the Bolt to be much more responsive. I get that the Roamio was the first 4K TiVo device so I lived with it on that one. It's still laggy and slightly unresponsive. These things have caused me to think that TiVo is on it's last legs and it's probably time to leave the platform: So ever since I got the Bolt, I've had a real crappy experience. I was thinking about dumping TiVo then, but decided I should give it another try with the Bolt. (Actually had the first original one as well but didn't keep it so I won't count that.) Anyway, I recently upgraded to a TiVo Bolt from my Roamio because the Roamio was getting laggy and glitchy a bit. So I've been with TiVo since the series 2.
